About You
You will be studying for a degree or Master’s in Social Care, qualifying this summer 2023 and be looking to start a career within Adult Social Care. You’ll bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn and a passion to help others.
The role will require you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, potentially transporting service users and their belongings in an emergency. As such a driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
For these NQSW posts we are currently unable to consider applications from individuals who do not currently reside in the UK and will require relocation and sponsorship.
What we offer in return
For the first 12 months you will be joining one of our frontline teams, alongside other NQSW’s, all completing the ASYE programme. You will also benefit from solution focused training and support throughout your ASYE year while enjoying lots of peer support and a real sense of belonging as you start your journey with us.
Following completion of your ASYE you will have the opportunity to then continue your career with Essex County Council within the Adult Social Care service https://www.workingforessex.com/role/adult-social-care
We’ll support you to be to your best, with the resources, training, and development to empower you. You can kick start your career with a range of opportunities offered by our award-winning Essex Social Care Academy. We also offer a university programme to work towards a master’s in advanced social work.
Here’s what our Newly Qualified Social Workers have to say:
“I was nervous about starting my career in social work because of a difficult experience in my final placement. My ASYE has been a good experience for me because of the extra support, protected time and supervision and being in a team of people at the same stage in their career. Starting our journey at the same time and learning together.”
“Since I have joined the Mid LD team as an ASYE at the start of my social work career, I have found every member of the team approachable and supportive. Being in the LD team allows you to undertake a wide range of social work responsibilities, which as an ASYE is invaluable in developing your learning and practice. We are a fortunate team to have a diverse service user group, as well as nurturing colleagues.”
