Start date: September 2023
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and supportive team in September.
Do you believe that every child should have the chance to be the best person they can possibly be? Do you want to work with an inclusive team to ensure children get the opportunity to reach their true potential? If so, this role could be for you.
The role will include:
- Supporting children’s learning and positive behaviour in lessons and unstructured times
- Enabling access to learning for all pupils
- Covering classes for PPA and short-term illness using the teacher’s planning
- Assisting the teacher in preparing resources
- Working with pupils 1-1 or in groups
You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator. Above all, we are looking for an individual who has a commitment and passion for raising the achievement of all students regardless of their ability and who cares deeply about student wellbeing.
We are a medium sized primary school with 301 hardworking, respectful and well-behaved children. We have committed parents and a Senior Leadership Team and Board of Governors who are truly supportive of all staff and pupils. Our vision is for all of our children to experience ‘life in all its fullness’ John 10:10.
We take pride in the fact that our school’s vision is rooted in Christianity and whilst we would wish any candidate to support this ethos, it is not essential to be a practising Christian.
The successful applicant will:
- Be passionate about teaching and learning and able to inspire and challenge pupils to reach their full potential
- Have recent TA experience in a Primary School setting
- Have experience of supporting children with SEND or be willing to learn
- Be able to plan independently and adapt planning and teaching to meet the needs of pupils
- Be able to demonstrate that they are a hardworking, highly motivated individual who can be flexible and work as part of a team in our caring and inclusive school
- Be in possession of excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with staff, pupils and external agencies
- Be proactive in supporting the aims and ethos of our school
Equality and diversity matter to us. If you think you’d be suited to one of our roles we’d love to hear from you regardless of age, disability status, ethnicity, gender, religion or sexuality. We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer and as such anyone who is registered disabled and meets the essential person specification criteria will be shortlisted for interview.
DDAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
We welcome visits to our school and you are encouraged to telephone the School Office on 01332 673827 or email [email protected] to arrange a visit.
To apply please submit completed applications forms to [email protected] by the closing date - we will only accept applications made on DDAT application forms.
