In England, a young person must be in part-time education or training until they’re 18. As this is a full time Non-apprenticeship position, applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to apply.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and caring team on Ward 26, within the Care of the Older Person directive of Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
The successful candidate will be a team player and will enjoy supporting the Nursing and medical teams who provide full care and medical interventions for all patients. alongside this you will be required to work with varying allied healthcare professionals, such as Physiotherapists, occupational Therapists and Speech and Language therapists, in order to provide full, holistic care to all patients and meet their individual care needs.
The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Main duties of the post holder will include providing personal care, documenting changes within the patients, dietary and fluid intake as well as fluid output, bowel movements, general condition and presentation as well as escalating to other healthcare professionals.We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and desire to deliver quality patient care. Assist in the care of older patients (those 65 years old +)
Specific duties will include, following appropriate training:
- Taking and recording observations such as temperature, peak flow, BMI (If trained and competent)
- Blood glucose monitoring (If trained and competent)
- Urinalysis
- Venepuncture (If trained and competent)
- Ensuring specimens are delivered to Pathology
- ECG recording (If trained and competent)
- Stocking up the treatment and consultation rooms
- Chaperoning patients to scans/appointments
- Case note delivery
- Daily maintaining clean and safe treatment rooms and general ward areas.
- Ensuring patient identity, and next of kin details are correct on all documentation.
- Specific patient paperwork documentation
