Reports to: Executive Chef
Hours: 42 hours per week, 5/7 days
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, dependant on experience
Location:
The Furnace Kitchen, Coalbrookdale, with the expectation of working at other Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust sites when required.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef with a passion for incredible food to work closely with our Executive Chef in the creation of outstanding recipes, while effectively managing and nurturing our Commis Chef, Sous Chef and Kitchen Assistants.
You:
- will have a sharp eye for detail, a passion for seasonal ingredients and a commitment to outstanding customer service
- will take a hands-on role in leading the kitchen, developing exciting new menu offerings and forecasting supply needs
- be proactive in coaching, nurturing and guiding your team
- will ensure the restaurant meets all statutory sanitary and health & safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Control and direct the food preparation process
- Assist in the design of menus and culinary creations, ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
- Approve and polish dishes before they reach the customer
- Order equipment and ingredients according to identified shortages
- Remedy any problems or defects
- Be involved in hiring, managing and training kitchen staff
- Comply with nutrition and sanitary regulations and health & safety standards
- Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef
- Exceptional kitchen management
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills
- Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimised kitchen processes.
Desirable:
- Degree in culinary science or a related qualification.
Staff Reporting Directly:
- All Kitchen-based staff.
