About us

Reporting to the Grounds Manager within a small, agile team that is responsible for ensuring that all external areas are maintained to the highest standard whilst meeting our environmental aspirations. Working across multiple sites carrying out a wide variety of tasks from maintaining high quality ornamental lawns and borders to pond and woodland management. The applicant must have a thorough attention to detail, a strong work ethic and bring a professional approach to the role.

About the role

The role is to manage the day to day running of the grounds team ensuring that all external areas are maintained to the highest standards of presentation.

  • Responsible for planning the day to day workload of the grounds team and co-ordinating the team to complete all necessary tasks whilst liaising with Grounds Manager to establish current priorities

  • Accountability for standard of grounds presentation across Malmesbury and Hullavington sites

  • Working alongside grounds maintenance team in maintaining all external areas

  • Responsible for prioritising tasks appropriately to ensure high visibility areas always have the highest standards of presentation

  • Responsible for ensuring grounds team has all required tools, materials and PPE to carry out routine tasks

  • Participate in any seasonal activities, e.g. gritting and snow clearance as required, including out of normal working hours and inclusion on a call out roster

  • Work with Grounds Manager to review and challenge existing processes and implement efficiency improvements once identified

  • Report any hard/soft landscaping deficiencies to Grounds Manager and provide input into planned capital expenditure improvement programme to increase quality of landscape across Dyson sites

  • Work with security to ensure all contractors are able to gain access to site efficiently

  • Responsible for overseeing external contractors for small projects and site improvements

  • Responsible for ensuring that all grounds machinery storage areas are tidy and well organised

  • Ensure compliance with H&S policies and procedures in all aspects of grounds team operations

  • Awareness of all relevant environmental laws and making sure team comply with them at all times

  • Responsible for ensuring all grounds maintenance tasks are logged on task management system

  • Provide a responsive and professional service to stakeholders, dealing promptly with issues arising and if necessary escalating to the grounds manager

About you

  • Able to prioritise workload when under pressure

  • Able to communicate effectively with team and key stakeholders

  • Able to demonstrate ability to work to a high standard of grounds maintenance

  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and a strong team

  • Problem solver; able to proactively resolve problems encountered by the team

  • Positive attitude and proven ability to work as part of a close-knit team

  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office

  • Possession of NPTC certificates e.g. PA1 & PA6, use of chainsaw, brush cutter etc. is desirable, training will be provided where required

  • Level 2/Level 3 Horticulture qualification desirable

  • Full UK Driving Licence
