Job Summary: A Groomer will prepare and maintain a snow surface that is safe and functional for skiers and snowboarders during all snow and weather conditions. Depending upon level responsibilities may also include hauling and dozing to support the needs of other mountain departments. Job Description: The Groomer operates heavy construction equipment and/or snow grooming equipment with attachments. This person operates heavy equipment in an efficient manner on an as needed basis and grooms trails with the objective of providing an enjoyable skiing surface for guests. He/she knows capability of machinery and understands maintenance functions and gauges. Job Details: Seasonal, full-time and part-time positions supporting the Palisades Tahoe Grooming Team Role will frequently be exposed to and immersed in outdoor winter weather conditions Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned: Entry Groomer- Job Duties: Maintain mountain skiing surfaces to finest level possible Ability to learn how to operate all Slope Grooming equipment Safe operation of a turbo-charged diesel powered over the snow vehicle with hydrostatic drives, 12 way blade, and multi function roto tiller rear implements Operate all machine functions, such as blade controls, rear implement controls and steering. Minimize down time through basic preventative maintenance, cleanliness and up-keep of machine Covers rocks and obstacles on the slopes. Moves snow from low wear areas to high wear areas. Manual labor in other Slopes and Trails work Receive daily working instructions from Foremen and Supervisor Daily, as needed, communication with shop Mechanics concerning mechanical problems Entry Groomer- Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent 1 year grooming/ Snowcat operation experience Equipment operation background and experience with diesel engine/hydraulic machines Ski area experience Basic knowledge and Troubleshooting skills grooming equipment Valid driver's license with no restrictions Experienced Groomer- Job Duties: (in addition to job responsibilities listed for Entry Groomer) Maintain demanding mountain skiing surfaces to finest level possible, with little supervision Grooms steep slopes by operating grooming machine with a drum winch. Builds and maintains snow covered roads on the mountain. Builds and maintains ramps and mazes at ski lifts. Completion of Industry training for Groomer maintenance and Repair Experienced Groomer- Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent 3 years grooming/ Snowcat operation experience Equipment operation background and experience with diesel engine/hydraulic machines Ski area experience Intermediate knowledge and Troubleshooting skills grooming equipment Valid driver's license with no restrictions Competencies and Job Requirements: Required: Effective communication skills, oral & written Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time Work well as part of a team. Required to ski or snowboard on snow and ice, and up and down hill, while carrying equipment. Able to work with minimum supervision The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits. Base hourly pay range: $20.54 - $39.10 per hour Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working Conditions: Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions.
