Overall Purpose of the job
To take ownership of all design requirements for PAUL UK. Ensuring all packaging, sales, marketing, web & social media and in-house collateral is cost-effectively designed and delivered to agreed standards and deadlines from concept to fruition.
Key Objectives
Act as guardian of the PAUL brand and all associated brands with active input into the evolution of each brand
All activities are to be carried out within the policies and procedures of the group as set out in the Employee Handbook.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
Act as guardian of the PAUL brand and all associated brands with active input into the evolution of each brand
Design point of sale items from concept through to the finished product and all intermediate stages
Seasonal campaign planning, development and execution.
Design product packaging from concept to print ready artwork
Visualisation and mock ups - produce graphic and physical examples of products and site installations
Undertake advertising and promotional design for online, print and promotional products from concept to production ready artwork
Undertake photography direction
Photo retouching
Manage print supplier, through briefing and consultation, ensuring an effective output of quality work.
Additional Responsibilities
Manage and keep up to date the in-house image library
Work with marketing team to supply marketing material, both printed and online
Print procurement - source providers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of prices, materials, processes and deadlines/delivery, as required
Tasks are likely to include:
finding out about the project requirements (taking a 'brief')
estimating the time the project will require, and providing a cost quotation
coming up with design concepts that fit the client's needs
presenting options for design treatments
creating final designs, working to a deadline and budget
amending designs according to the clients' final comments
proofreading and preparing designs to be sent to print.
Skill and Technical Requirements
Adept at working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to respond to both formal and spoken briefs.
Adept at presenting conceptual and completed work to senior stakeholders.
Excellent working knowledge of Adobe creative suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign etc.) on the MAC OS platform.
Deep understanding of design & typography principles.
Knowledge of print production.
Photo and image editing and retouching experience.
Technically proficient, sufficient to handle a wide range of artwork setup requirements; eg. packaging and web.
Able to take design briefs and follow them through from concept stage to completion.
Attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
Able to meet tight deadlines up to high standards.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent English language skills.
Copywriting and proofing skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst working to tight deadlines
Previous design experience within a food retail environment is preferred, though not essential. Candidates with suitable agency experience would be considered.
Design or Fine Art qualification preferred, ideally to degree level.
Experience in managing the broad marketing mix, specifically POS, digital (online and social media), packaging, campaign management and advertising, either inhouse or agency.
Commercially aware and able to demonstrate key marketing experience, with a proven track record.
Photography direction preferred.
