You were born to provide brilliant animal care and we do that by empowering brilliant people like you. Join the IVC Evidensia Graduate Academy 2023 and find the very best start to your Veterinary career.
About us
We are a four-branch practice with three small animal sites and a farm and equine practice. Our main small animal and farm and equine practices are conveniently based in the centre, and on the outskirts of Cardigan town centre respectively. We also have a mixed practice in Crymych, in the Preseli mountains and a small practice in the coastal town of Aberaeron. Our Large and Small Animal Vets have the experience and time to mentor younger colleagues and include certificate holders in advanced veterinary practice in cattle, and mastitis control plan deliverers in our farm and equine practice, and senior small animal Vets who specialize in orthopaedics, dentistry and ultrasound scanning.
We have 13.5 FTE Vets across all sites (farm and equine and small animal). From this, we have 7.2 FTE small animal Vets and 6.3 farm and equine Vets. We have 8.8 FTE SA Nurses and 2 FTE Vet techs. In addition we have two full time hoof trimmers which are shared between Priory, Steffan and The Oak. We have two certificate holders in Advanced Cattle and one Nurse certificate holder in ECC.
Our facilities are second to none including endoscope (2022 purchase), lapraroscopic bitch spays (2x kits), ultrasound, TTA, TPLO, multiparameter anesthetic monitoring and much more.
About the role
Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Monday to Friday between 8.30 and 5.30. You may also be required to participate in a weekend rota and/or an out of hours on-call rota which will include working on weekends and bank holidays.
Our Vets have the capacity to support new graduates, and we also have the experience to mentor young colleagues. We fully support any Vet who wishes to undertake a certificate and currently have a Vet completing a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Camelid Medicine.
On the farm site, we look after a diverse range of local farms giving experience in dairy, beef and sheep, in addition to numerous smallholders who we look after through our Smallholders Club which give us an interesting mix of goats, rare breed sheep, alpacas and a few pigs!
