Graduate Business Programme, Firmwide, Birmingham, Autumn 2023 Birmingham, England

PwC
Full Time Birmingham, England 23200 - 36688 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Our purpose focuses on how we contribute to society, and how our business decisions can contribute to greater trust and solving important problems. In order to achieve our purpose and deliver a first-class service to our clients, we need first-class support internally. The people who power us - our internal teams - have a vital role to make sure we have all the right resources, services and technology to be the best we can be. Not all of us work directly with external clients. Some of our most talented people choose to harness their skills inside of PwC.

Graduate Business Programme

You know you want to build a career with a market leading organisation and gain an industry leading qualification, but you’re not quite sure where you might fit in or which area you want to specialise in. If that sounds like you then this role could be just what you're looking for.

On joining the Graduate Business Programme, you’ll be part of our flexible talent pool, held centrally within the firm. From this central team you will be deployed to the area of the business that needs your skills the most. You could get the opportunity to gain experience across different parts of our business, or you may become more specialised in one particular business area. Either way, you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology and with some of the brightest minds in business, on a range of market leading clients across a variety of industries, leveraging our global network.

Whichever office you’re based out of, we’ll need you to work flexibly as your expertise will be in demand across our business, so you may also find yourself working in other locations across the UK.

Programme

Our graduate training programme is underpinned by a development framework that broadens and deepens your knowledge. You'll learn from hands-on coaching and an outstanding variety of work, picking up business, personal and technical skills you can use across the network, and throughout your career.

What you'll do

The variety and exposure of work you could do whilst on the Graduate Business Programme is vast. This could be in any of our lines of service; Audit, Consulting, Tax, Risk, Operate or Deals.

On this pathway, you can remain in the flexible talent pool for all four years before specialising in a line of service, or you may be able to specialise in a line of service earlier.

In your first year you are likely to spend a good proportion of time within Audit, developing a solid understanding of how business works and gaining hands on experience to aid in passing your professional qualification. For the remainder of your time on the programme, your experiences can widely vary, for example

  • Helping organisations understand and manage their risk exposure in Risk. This could include reviewing and improving their existing cloud and technology services to advising governments and multinationals define governance models
  • Working on a merger or international takeover bid in Deals or reviewing economic crime investigations and cases of insolvency
  • Researching various areas of taxation to help clients make informed decisions on their tax policies and remain compliant
  • working with senior professionals to understand and provide Consulting advice to firms on their sustainability strategies, environmental and social concerns or organisation change
  • Assisting with large implementations or execution programmes for client in Operate

As you may be deployed across our different lines of service, you’ll find out first-hand which area your interests and skills are best suited to, before you choose to specialise in your career.

What you'll gain

At PwC, you can expect to be part of a stimulating environment, working on challenging projects where you’ll have access to a world of opportunity and experiences and in a culture that embraces difference - no matter what your degree or background. We’re focused on our people achieving their full potential, where hard work and accomplishments are recognised and rewarded with a competitive salary and a tailored, flexible benefits scheme.

You'll jump straight into the role to learn through on-the-job training, as well as gaining a Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business. This is the first stage of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Chartered Accountancy qualification.

After which you’ll have the additional option to complete the Chartered Accountants qualification or take a further qualification depending on where you choose to specialise. This learning and study approach gives you a real feel for the work we do across our business.

What you'll need

You'll need to have achieved or be on track to pass an undergraduate degree or above in any subject. We determine whether you're on course to pass based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study.
