We are proud to be opening a BRAND-NEW state of the art 10 screen cinema in Basildon, as part of a £25 million complex to regenerate the town centre. As well as a total seating capacity of just under 1200, our Impact LUXE screen will house the BIGGEST Cinema Screen in ESSEX and have a seating capacity of over 400, including a VIP Balcony offer.
In addition to as a fantastic film experience, we will also be offering food and beverage options courtesy of a fully licensed café-bar and lounge, serving a selection of delicious food, cakes, pastries, coffee, wines, beers, and cocktails. Not forgetting all the usual cinema favourites too!
To carry this through we are looking for an experienced General Manager that can join us to lead the team and deliver this vision. COULD THIS BE YOU?
The role of a General Manager is central to the success of their business and are pivotal in providing leadership, direction, and structure to everyone within the Cinema. They will effectively challenge, manage, and lead their team to deliver an excellent customer experience and high operational standards at all times. They are vital in managing profitability with commercial acumen that controls all aspects of the day-to-day business.
The General Manager will be based at one cinema but will be expected to support other cinemas within the business as required, along with supporting and developing Empire Cinemas as a Company.
The successful applicant will:
  • Have a minimum of 4/5 years leadership and management experience within a face-paced Leisure/Retail/Hospitality environment, ideally in a customer focused industry.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety in the Cinema and to ensure that all Company Procedures, Policies along with statutory and local legal requirements are upheld.
  • Manage all employees so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their performance to meet the Company Standards.
  • To monitor and analyse the local market and make commercial decisions accordingly to drive attendance through effective local marketing initiatives.
  • Established management experience gained in a target driven and customer focused industry. Driving sales and performance and natural ability to build rapport with customer.
  • Ability to interpret financial data (P&Ls) and stock and cash control management skills.
  • Adapt personal, interpersonal and managerial behaviour to bring out the best in your team and enhance the Company standards, values and objectives.
  • Have proven experience of managing volume and large teams.
  • Have the drive to get their sleeves rolled up and have a hands-on presence whilst maintaining a commercial and strategic focus.
  • Be savvy with social media.
  • Be an enthusiastic, charismatic, self-motivated and proactive individual, with a real passion for film and the cinema industry, as well as food and drinks.
