We are seeking an enthusiastic and resourceful Garment Technologist who will grow with the company and add value to our team. Taking ownership of all matters relating to garment development and quality, you will work in tandem with our company founders to become a seamless extension to the team.
An exceptional eye for detail is necessary, as is the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across all areas of the business, including with customers and overseas suppliers.
Main Job Responsibilities:
- Helping to deliver on time orders by following the development & order process closely, taking ownership of approvals, sampling and sign-offs;
- Quality management of all samples - Managing sample process from Protos to Shipment, ensuring all designs are executed correctly, meeting customer requirements and that products are made to correct specs;
- Gathering approvals of lab dips, trims, samples from customers and feeding back to suppliers;
- Support customers with amendments to product specifications and size charts when required;
- Promoting quality at all times, whilst maintaining a strong commercial awareness
- Liaising with suppliers and factories during development and production cycles to ensure technical issues are supported with clear and timely decisions, helping to maintain shipment dates;
- Taking ownership of fabric and garment QC checks, arranging and following up both in-house and 3rd party inspections;
- Creating & managing master product books, ensuring all details such as colours, trims, accessories and packaging are up to date;
- General day to day organisation is required, including organising samples, archiving old samples & creating/removing submission files.
Qualifications & Skills
- Will have a good understanding of garment construction and technical specifications across a variety of product categories.
- First-class communication skills: experience of working with different cultures and the challenges this can bring.
- Able to work independently and multi-task whilst being working well as part of a team also.
- Be well organised and have good prioritisation skills.
- Be able to create and maintain technical specifications/workbook on excel
- Flexible approach to be able to adjust to the changing needs of the business
- Comprehensive knowledge of fitting and resolving of fit issues
- Intermediate CAD skills for ‘How to Measure’ illustrations (Adobe Illustrator)
- Comfort in taking decisions and owning your responsibilities.
- A minimum of 2/3 years’ experience within a similar role in a fast-paced environment
- Fabric construction knowledge would be beneficial
- Knowledge of grading and grade rules is desirable
