Gallery Assistant
Beaux Arts Bath is seeking a full-time gallery assistant. To be considered applicants must include a cover letter as detailed below.
The candidate should above all be well-organised, tidy, computer-literate and able to handle a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the gallery.
Good inter-personal skills, multi-tasking, an ability to work independently, and attention to detail are essential. Experience within the art world is not essential as this role is focused on administration and office organisation. Full training on art-work handling will be provided.
Main responsibilities:
- Administrative support for Gallery: diary management and upkeep, maintaining and updating paper and digital records, maintaining office supplies
- Bookkeeping skills: organising invoices and receipts, updating spreadsheets
- Assisting with organisation and basic cleaning when needed to ensure a consistent high level of presentation within the gallery
- Confidently discussing and providing assistance with information on artists, sales, and other general enquiries in person, or via phone and email
- Assisting with planning and producing content for social media accounts, following exhibition and art fair schedules, maintaining awareness of the best tone and presentation for the gallery
- Updating and maintaining the website, using Wordpress, to ensure all information is accurate and well-presented
- Preparing packages and arranging for courier collection.
- Assisting in the organisation of events such as exhibition openings and art fairs – including ordering drinks, supplies, and set up and take down
- Opening and closing the gallery.
- Basic practical DIY tasks.
- Supporting other staff with their duties where necessary

Position: Full Time
Term: 3 month trial period leading to 12-month contract with a view to extend.
5 days per week, including Saturday, 10.00-5.00 plus flexibility during installation and art fairs; 28 days holiday pro rata incl. bank holidays.
Approx. £21,000 p.a. plus variable commission.
