Job description
The Vancouver Rowing Club is the city's oldest amateur athletic association. Our members participate in Rowing, Rugby, Field Hockey and Yachting and enjoy the use of facilities in our heritage clubhouse located on the water in Stanley Park. We are looking for a full-time permanent Food & Beverage Manager to join our team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of our growing F&B operations, with a prime focus on service and client satisfaction. This position is a hands-on role ensuring that the club provides the best customers service experience for our members and guests, while providing mentorship and training to employees to help them meet the club's overall operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, supervising and evaluating the daily operating procedures of set-up and maintenance of the member bar, patio and event spaces
- Being present on the floor during peak periods providing supervision and leadership and being prepared to assist in food and beverage preparation and service when required
- Assisting with addressing members' complaints and facilitating appropriate proactive solutions
- Creating and managing staff schedules in collaboration with General Manager and Event Manager ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained
- Recruiting, training and mentoring new employees and existing F&B staff
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback and coaching to staff
- Tracking inventory effectively to reduce product loss & waste, including weekly spot checks, full monthly inventory count and ordering of supplies
- Set-up and maintenance of POS systems and club administration using Jonas Club Management software, Microsoft 365 and other applications as needed
- Identifying opportunities for growth and implementing strategies to increase F&B sales and revenue for the club
- Collaborating with the Events Manager to create beverage packages for private events
- Ensuring the successful execution of private events, including setup and breakdown
- Ensuring compliance with all club policies, procedures and regulations
- Developing pricing strategies and monitoring cost of goods to develop strategies that balance profitability and member satisfaction
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years hospitality management experience
- Must be flexible to work varying shifts, weekend availability required
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrates honesty, openness and kindness
- Excellent problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
- Must be motivated, punctual, reliable and able to multitask.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, JONAS experience an asset
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
- Must have strong communication skills, both written & verbal
- Must be able to implement change
- Must hold current Serving It Right AND FoodSafe certificate
- Knowledge of food, alcoholic beverages & wines
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility
- Must be able to lift up to 20lbs
- Must be available to work Wednesday through Sunday, afternoons & evenings.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
