The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme and is available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-3-year olds a Flying Start in life. The programme aims to provide intensive support services for children and their families.
The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development and the early identification of high needs. This is achieved through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support and free part time childcare.
About the role
Pay Details: Grade 6, SCP 14-19, £25,409 - £27,852 pa
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Main Place of Work: Barry
Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funding until 31.3.2025
Description:
Working under the Flying Start Social Worker to provide one to one or group based support to families and children in the Flying Start areas. Responsible for delivery of bespoke packages of support of intervention to support families
About you
You will need:
- A relevant qualification at level 3 or above (including but not exclusive to NVQ, GCSE, ILM, BTEC, City & Guilds).
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and have a flexible approach to work.
- Ability to operate IT casework management systems.

- Motivation and enthusiasm for the post and an understanding of the tasks required
- Ability to drive/travel throughout the Vale or between locations as appropriate
