Job description
While the new economy relies more heavily on logistics, the model doesn’t work in rural areas. Millions of people and businesses can’t access delivery or experience surcharges because vans are inefficient with low volumes, complex terrains or scattered delivery points. The situation will only worsen, as 85% of the costs are due to labour and fuel.
IONA is the next generation of local logistics providers: we take over last-mile for main providers and also run local deliveries, but swap unsuitable delivery vans for very efficient delivery drones. We help businesses reduce their costs and cut CO2 emissions while offering a better service to their customers and expanding their revenues in underserved market segments.
Tasks
Last year, we validated our business case and product’s feasibility, and this year we deliver with production and first flights. We are looking for an experienced flight control engineer (eVTOL & eV/STOL).
You participate in the company's vision and work on a various range of sectors: logistics, robotics and aerospace topics. You work on the development of our drone solution. You report directly to the CTO but as we are a start-up, you can ask to try new tasks out of your normal scope (e.g. grant writing, events) and can have a real impact on the company long-term.
Requirements
You must have hands-on experience with GNC & Flight Control for eVTOL and/or eV/STOL and be willing to jump full-time within 2-5 months as well as commit 5-10h per week before that because you will join the founding team (pre-funding). Any experience in Logistics is a bonus.
Also, you must understand the value of good communication in early-stage start-ups and be willing to adapt and change plans.
Benefits
You will have a central role in an impact-for-profit start-up that will help thousands of people, cut CO2 emissions and unlock rural areas' potential. You will partly create the role that you want to have, as the team will work with politicians and stakeholders across Europe. We are often invited to tech-for-good events, so it's an opportunity to work with world-class engineers AND develop your network and overall understanding of company building.
Significant equity stake and competitive salary post-fundraising (max January).
