Job description
We are looking for a Fleet Manager to join our team, this is a full-time role, Monday to Friday. You will be based at our head office.
The role includes the following duties:
- To develop and lead the strategic direction of fleet management, with a fleet of around 80-100 vehicles which will grow
- Manage and maintain our O Licence ensuring legal requirements are met, acting as point of contact for the Traffic Commissioner (if required)
- Maintaining all legal requirements for three owned lorries including two Vaccuum-Excavators
- Understanding the wider business objectives and in line with this, looking at ways to reduce cost and improve service
- Ensuring the fleet of vehicles is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations
- Communicating with insurance brokers and organising the appropriate insurance for drivers and vehicles
- Analysing fuel and vehicle data for all vehicles
- Investigating accidents with Fleet Administrator & Project Managers to ensure claims are correctly made, vehicles are repaired and drivers are safe
- Reporting fleet/driver performance regularly to senior and operational managers, this is to include but limited to driver behaviour, incident costs, running costs, parking fines and licence checks
- Maintaining accurate records of vehicles MOTSs, Services and inspections
- Ensuring trackers are fitted to all vehicles across the fleet, monitor fleet utilisation and report data to MD
- Maintaining the administration of fleet including supervising the fleet administrator to ensure the ordering and distribution of fuel cards, monitoring vehicle trackers, maintain fleet data, parking fines and ensuring driving licence checks are carried out
- Monitoring fleet costs and ensuring they stay within budger
- Working with project managers to monitor drivers behaviour and taking disciplinary action where required
- Assisting with the drafting and implementation of policies and procedures regarding fleet operations
- Ensuring drivers are working correctly to the WTD and working hours
- Assisting the fleet administrator in ensuring our operators licence is kept up to date, vehicles are added/removed where necessary and there are no breaches
- Ad-Hoc Duties as required.
We are looking for someone who has the following attributes:
- Excellent knowledge of the VOSA/DVLA regulatory requirements with a strong knowledge of UK Fleet Legislations
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to a changing environment
- Skilled in use of Microsoft Office Software programs
- Hold a Transport Manager Qualification/Transport Manager Certificate of Professional competence (CPC) or similar
- Full Clean UK driving licence (desired not essential)
