We are currently recruiting for a Financial Systems Reconciliations Officer in London.

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

Purpose:

To ensure accuracy of all financial and organisational control systems through regular and timely reconciliations, ensuring that any issues or discrepancies are identified, traced to source, and resolved. To undertake regular rent and service element calculations and settings, ensuring robust data is regularly maintained for this process. Supporting stock and asset reconciliation, to ensure that data is accurate and consistent, and available as and when required.

Duties:

  • Weekly, monthly and annual reconciliations of rents and service charges on Northgate Housing (Sx3) and ensuring timely and accurate posting to General Ledger in Agresso.
  • Interrogate complex financial data on Northgate systems and Agresso reconciliation anomalies, resolving where possible and making recommendations on endemic system design issues.
  • Annual rent and tenant service charge calculations, modelling different scenarios in line with guidelines and local policies and achieving agreed timescales. Analyse data to ensure its legitimacy.
  • Be part of the project team for annual rent setting process and timetable working with key stake holders and delivering to deadlines and statuary notices. Also ensure process and procedures are documented.
  • Reconciliation of data on housing stock and other corporate assets, to ensure consistency between systems and accurate income and expenditure.
  • Process mapping of standard data maintenance processes, to ensure business continuity.
  • Support providing Financial Systems Manager and Head of Finance in collating and providing responses to LBTH annual audit of Northgate and Agresso rental income analysis.
  • Responsible for preparing data and reports from Northgate and Agresso systems for presentation, appropriate to the audience, and ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency.
  • Responsible for downloading, calculating, and analysing tenant individual heat metering charge using the guru HES portal/postman. Aim to Deliver six monthly forecast report for tenants, analyse the data to identify risk in regard to tampered meters.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciling the Rent Direct Debit and Service Charges bank statements to the ledger
  • Responsible for updating and creating Northgate elements for current and new build developments as per request from the business.
  • Update accurately and in line with deadline for letting advert. Backup evidence and system notes are updated for audit trail.
  • Participates in meetings relating to own area of work as required, ensuring the service is represented.
  • Ensuring savings opportunities and value-for-money are realised through accurate data and effective monitoring.
  • Carry out other reasonable ad hoc duties to support the Directorate which are commensurate with the expectation of the post as directed by the line manager or the Head of Service.

Experience:

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working with financial systems and data
  • Experience of working within a social housing context
  • Experience of working with Northgate Housing, Business Objects, Agresso and standard office software.

Desirable Criteria

  • Finance or accountancy training / qualifications.

Knowledge:

Essential Criteria

  • A sound understanding of basic financial accounting practices
  • Knowledge of social housing rent and service element charging mechanisms
  • Knowledge of rent restructuring methodology

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of leasehold service charge setting

Skills:

Essential Criteria

  • Attention to detail when working with large sets of complex financial data
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex processes
  • Analytical skills to track down discrepancies, identify root causes and recommend suitable fixes
  • Report writing skills
  • Negotiating and influencing skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Presentation skills
  • Running reports from Boxi
