The Role & Responsibilities
This role sits within the first line of defence team for the Finance Department in a growing specialist bank, with a key objective of ensuring risks are identified and understood, and suitable controls are designed and are operating effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing the risk and control target operating model for the Bank / Finance Department. Once embedded, you will be responsible for ensuring continuing compliance through controls testing, supporting the annual attestation process and will be a key ‘project’ contributor in evaluating ‘to be’ risk and control landscapes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Support the implementation of the Finance Department’s control transformation agenda, working collaboratively across divisions and with key stakeholders. This includes helping to develop and maintain a complete portfolio of process maps, contributing towards the design and implementation of the department's annual controls testing plan, along with providing meaningful feedback to enhance the controls position, including automation.
- Maintain the integrity of the Finance Department’s risk and control framework, including ensuring controls are designed to best practise standards, operate effectively, facilitating / driving resolution of deficiencies, as well as providing ongoing support on the wider Bank’s control framework.
- Liaise with senior managers and internal / external auditors on the change activity across the Bank and the impacts of the Risk Management Framework and UK Corporate Reform.
- Provide effective governance and support of Bank-wide strategic initiatives, required to either remediate or proactively enhance control activities. This includes supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the Group's new risk and control reporting tool.
- Raising the bar on risk and control documentation, such as assisting on the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, for all risk activity within Finance.
The Person
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA (or equivalent) qualified or part qualified
- Able to demonstrate an audit or risk background, with a clear understanding of risk related concepts and controls within a Finance function
- Circa 3 years of relevant risk and control experience
- Ability to translate findings into constructive solutions
- High level of computer proficiency (good knowledge of MS Office suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and process mapping tools)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
