Finance Manager - Technology Accounting - London, Coventry or Manchester

The purpose of this role is to ensure the integrity and controls of Tech Opex accounting for the Technology division expenditure including the resulting entries in the Periodic and Statutory Accounts. This is to enable the business to manage costs and satisfy their fiduciary duties to the Company.
What you need to do
- Lead and motivate a team of 1 direct report and 1 indirect report to manage the Tech accounting process for OPEX, ensuring processing of journals each period is timely and in accordance with Group Policy for both the JSIS and Argos entities.
- Build of the periodic performance reporting vs budget, including managing the process of the production of various opex schedules for period accounts and audit purposes
- Lead the Half Year (HY) and Full Year (FY) deliverables for Tech accounting.
- Main contact with External Auditors in relation to Tech Accounting queries throughout the year.
- Ensure that a robust financial control environment exists within the teams, evidenced by correct accounting procedures being complied with and periodic Balance Sheet account reconciliations being
Performed, further supported by our RACM control framework and timely reporting of risks/opportunities.
- Work closely with the Tech Business Partnering team, becoming the main point of contact, embedding a culture of challenge that should result in a “you and me agree” ethos between the Accounting and Reporting Team and the Finance Business Partering Team.
- Review processes within the Team with a view to improving efficiency and accuracy of data, approaching with a continuous improvement ethos.
- Recruit and develop a strong team with ability for moving into other finance roles as opportunities.
- Assess the implications on the financial statements of changes in accounting policy and IAS’s for Tech, for example Software as a Service (SaaS).
What you need to know and show
- Qualified accountant, including experience ideally within retail or an equivalent fast moving organisation
- Experience of maintaining strong financial controls
- Ideally experience of the Oracle/Blackline/Onestream systems
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Strong team management / supervisory skills
- Committed to driving change
