Due to the continued success of our Activations team, and expansion of Avonline Networks we have an exciting opportunity for a Fibre Splicer to join our team in Bristol.
Avonline Networks deliver service excellence on a nationwide basis. From the national fibre networks which millions of homes and businesses rely upon every day, to the infrastructure that delivers the latest technology to Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU's) across the UK. Providing installation and maintenance of infrastructure to MDU's across the UK for public sector, social housing, and private landlords, which include the latest technology, FTTP and IRS.
The role & responsibilities:
You will be a specialist in terminating fibre optic cables to expand telecommunications networks into new areas or to replace existing lines. You will also, troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems. Experience working on the Virgin Media or BT with an Installation, or service background would be preferred.
You will:
- Building a new fibre network on behalf of VX Fibre.
- Preparing and Splicing distribution cables onto the ODF and mounting the equipment in the Shelter which is central to the distribution network.
- At present multiple 576F cables leave the main hub, these are not Ribbon cables.
- Splicing the 576F cable at the far end onto the cabinet distribution cables.
- Splicing cabinets by identifying the correct fibre tubes and splicing onto pig tails to 48 optical ports.
- Preparation of all cables and correct labelling at all points of intervention.
- Using a OTDR to test all fibres end to end ( Bi Directional )
- Be able to be involved in blowing in the cables, or at least be prepared to be trained.
- Carry out an audit after works completion.
