THE ROLE – EVENTS MANAGER
Are you a highly driven and skilled communicator with experience in Events delivery?
If so…then becoming the Events Manager at the University of Hull may just be the job for you!
We are looking for a highly experienced professional, who is motivated by the importance of creating, maintaining, and protecting an organisation's reputation, while enhancing its prestige, and presenting a first class Event offer to our students, staff and guests of the University.
The newly created role of Events Manager sits within the University’s Commercial Services Directorate. While the role is in its infancy, it is none other than a critical role to the University. We host a diverse range of events ranging from a basic delivery of beverages through to residential conferences offering full board facilities with banquet facilities.
We also cater for Weddings, corporate dinners, day conferences and meetings, along with key University events such as Open Days, Offer Days and Graduation ceremonies and celebrations. We also work with a key partner within the city and provide support for all corporate events hosted in their venue.
The events world is constantly changing and we need to ensure we are on trend with current offers whilst benchmarking both locally and nationally to ensure we operate in an ever increasingly complex, challenging and competitive market that will assist in attracting new business to the University.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing Events for a minimum of three years, experience of leading and managing teams to deliver results, have a record of accomplishment of growing sales and retaining business and be both quality and process driven with a particular focus on delivering results. Ultimately, we are an education institution – it’s our bread and butter! Therefore, you will ideally hold a good degree, or equivalent. However, we also recognise the value that significant and relevant work experience can bring to an individual’s skillset.
Key to this role is high attention to detail, as the role holder will keep up-to-date on changes in the external environment to provide advice so that the University can respond accordingly – both proactively and reactively.
