In a nutshell
We believe that the best jobs make you fly. So, what better way to take off on your career (flight) path than with a Virgin Atlantic engineering apprenticeship?
Our iconic fleet is made up of some of the youngest, cleanest, and most high-tech aircraft in the skies, and we're incredibly proud of all our flying icons. That's why we're seeking amazing apprentices to join our expert engineering team to learn first-hand how to keep them in tip top condition - so we can keep delighting our customers.
The course runs for two years, and on successful completion, you'll graduate towards becoming a CAT A Licenced Aircraft Engineer. After that, it'll be time to put all your training into practice. The sky really is the limit! Oh, and we'll even support you in developing your skills towards gaining your CAT B Licence following your apprenticeship too.
It's our mission to empower everyone to take on the world, so we look for people from all backgrounds!
Day to day
- You'll be gaining a solid foundation in aircraft maintenance from industry experts - they really know their stuff... and you will too.
- Work alongside our amazing engineering team on our fleet of fantastic, class leading aircraft, while developing your technical and communication skills
- Experience the day-to-day live operations at our Heathrow maintenance facility, as well as offsite learning and assessments (including Maths, English and Physics)
- Form relationships with your teammates in a dynamic and encouraging environment
- Complete the scheme with more than just a sense of achievement, with progression to apply for a CAT A Licence in aircraft maintenance engineering
- In return for your hard work, we'll be on hand every step of the way to make sure you gain the skills you need to launch a successful career in aviation engineering
About you
- You must have the legal right to live and work in the UK and be over the age of 16 on or before 31st August 2023 to qualify for the apprenticeship
- You will have typically achieved 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above before starting the course, including Maths, English and a Science
- You'll have a passion for aviation (and hopefully Virgin Atlantic too)
- You're task oriented with an interest in engineering
- You can communicate information well to those you work with to help things run smoothly and safely
- You need good hand skills as you'll be working on complex engineering parts - and each one of our hi-tech engines costs more than £30million
- The ability to work in a team is really important, we all have our own superpowers and can contribute in different ways
- You'll need to be comfortable with staying away and sharing accommodation with other apprentices during the offsite training programme. We provide modern facilities and will ensure you feel at home
- You must not be in any other form of full-time education at the time of the course starting
