At Maidenhead, we proudly manufacture several well-known brands including Sensodyne, Aquafresh and Corsodyl. Producing 1m units of product a day, we supply to over 100 markets around the world. Ensuring that our consumers get the product when they need it most, at the right quality and the right price.
Engineers are responsible for designing, maintaining and improving our leading-edge manufacturing facilities that produce excellent consumer goods. Our multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship programme is designed to create the technicians and engineers of the future. As an engineering apprentice, you will have the opportunity to develop mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control & automation skills.
You will learn on-the-job from our in-house industry experts, combined with early responsibility to help develop and progress. You will be assigned a manager and a mentor who will support you throughout your apprenticeship. They will ensure you gain the right experience and skills, while working towards a nationally recognised qualification with local and remote learning intuitions.
If you show the qualities, enthusiasm and ability to learn you may be offered the opportunity to go on to study for an HND and a Degree in engineering.
Working with your manager and programme manager we will work with you to identify the right opportunities to ensure your success and plan for your future career with us. We will be there to offer support and guidance throughout your apprenticeship.
We offer Engineering apprenticeships in a manufacturing setting. Our Engineering apprenticeship lasts up to four years. In the first year, you’ll spend most of your time at college, studying theory elements and first principle skills of the apprenticeship and gaining some practical hands-on experience. In subsequent years, you’ll continue one day a week at college while learning new skills as part of an engineering team which will include a series of job rotations. Your rotations may include time in manufacturing, filling and packaging, utilities, facilities and automation & control. At the beginning of each rotation, you will be set a series of learning objectives, so you will always know what is expected of you.
Your apprenticeship will combine on-the-job learning with a programme of training and development. You’ll be excited by the thought of;
- Being part of the new Consumer Healthcare organisation
- Developing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation skills
- Learning how to maintain production equipment and carry out routine and planned maintenance
- Fault finding, diagnosing and resolving breakdowns
- Continuous improvement projects
- Helping design, install and test new equipment
- Developing teamwork and communication skills
- Taking part in programmes to develop personal, social and emotional skills
- Having the opportunity to become a STEM ambassador.
- Working & learning at the same time in a manufacturing environment

- A salary of £15,400 for the first year which then increases to £23,300 on the 1st anniversary (subject to all requirements being met throughout that first year).

To enable you to perform in this future talent opportunity:
- Education required: 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 9-5 (A*-C) including Maths and a Science
- Language (not Literature) at grade 4 or above
