Our primary office location is in Egham. Occasionally, some meetings will be held on-site and require travel to the office at the employee’s expense. This is likely to be less than 10 times a year. At all other times, the employee can work remotely or in the office as they choose.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Engineer you must have an in depth understanding of the underlying technologies and be excited to thoroughly apply your knowledge for the benefit of the organisation. You must be passionate about mentoring your peers. You must be able to evangelize your thoughts to help drive innovative solutions to improve and streamline processes. - Design and build all aspects of software solutions, from architectural overview to hands on coding, in a friendly team with a wealth of knowledge about the industry
- Be part of the full application lifecycle (design, develop, test, deploy and maintain), innovating in each step
- Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques to establish ongoing direction, specification, design, development and implementation of technology vision and strategy
- Learn and apply new technologies used by the team in software solutions for which it is responsible
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and build solution integrations
- Provide guidance and oversight on technical matters within a solution to ensure the technologies are secure, interoperable, and supportive of the company’s vision and strategy
- Actively coach, mentor and teach others; use influence, expertise, and leadership to support other teams as they implement technology solutions
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability and stability of applications while delivering impactful business value
- Protect our customers, our employees, and our brands by incorporating security and compliance in all decisions; ensure security policy and procedure requirements are met; continuously identify opportunities for improving security and implement strategies to improve our security posture
- May require occasional on-call duties

Qualifications
- Proficiency in Typescript and backend frameworks (NestJS or similar).
- Extensive experience with development of business level applications utilising an object-oriented programming language
- Extensive experience architecting and developing large complex applications
- Experience working in CI/CD and DevOps environments
- Considerable experience working on applications that leverage Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Experience in cloud computing (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)
- Experience designing and developing in micro-service environments
- Aptitude to quickly learn new programming languages and technologies
- A proven team player with demonstrable commitment to team goals
- Demonstrable experience of working in a team utilising Agile methodology
Preferred qualification:
- Proficiency with front-end development for mobile applications and familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and similar tools
- Java, JSON, APIs, AWS. Linux
- Experience with full-stack development
- Experience with Linux
- Demonstrable experience in implementation of good security practices
- Understanding of containerised and/or virtualised deployments
- Understanding of container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
- Understanding of scaled Agile frameworks
