Job description
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing, leading, and developing the engineering team at Dynamic Automation & Robotics. This team consists of a variety of skillsets including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. The team is responsible for the design and development of various machinery and tooling projects. These vary from small R&D tasks to large scale production lines. The Engineering Manager will work with other members of the leadership team, project management, and their team to deliver an integrated and functional solutions to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers including mechanical design, electrical design, and software development
Build and develop the skillset of the engineering team through trainings, mentorship, etc.
Oversee and manage engineering budgets and schedules.
Develop and implement refined processes, procedures, and best practices for the engineering department.
Manage and plan resources, manage contractors, oversee hiring and onboarding of new engineers.
Coordinate with other management and leadership regarding schedules, budgets, resources constraints, and various project roadblocks.
Working with and managing external suppliers
Working with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirements. Occasional travel is expected (approximately 5%)
Minimum Required Experience:
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage engineering teams.
3+ years in a design role, in an industrial automation and/or machine building environment
Demonstrated talent and track record in automation and/or machine design
Ability to size and specify actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripherals
Broad knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.) and experience designing for manufacturability
Familiarity with controls and software concepts (ex. PLC, VB, HMIs)
Experience with change management, revision control, non-conformances, etc.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
3+ years leading projects or managing engineering teams
Demonstrated experience with performance management
Experience implementing or working within ISO 9001
Experience using SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software
Understanding of GD&T, Y14.5M-2009
BS or higher in engineering field
Understanding of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance
Experience in tooling design
Experience in troubleshooting automated equipment
