Job description

Job Responsibilities:

1. To work with colleagues to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of the nursing service and the provision of safe and effective services that meet patient needs, in particular to:

· Be competent and participate in the care of patients identified by GP/Senior nurse who require blood samples,

· Ensure blood samples taken by self, nurse, Doctor are correctly labelled and ready for collection at appropriate time,

· Ensure blood samples are taken safely,

· Use Practice protocols for routine monitoring i.e. Rheumatic patients, Prostate patients ensuring recalls are in place and updated,

· Provide a safe environment and be able to act appropriately should a patient faint and seek assistance when required.

2. To promote excellence in customer service and offer appropriate information and advice to patients and their carers, including:

· Receiving and making telephone calls as required - diverting calls and taking messages,

· Completing SystmOne tasks and entering patient information on SystmOne ensuring careful recording of all relevant details,

· Recognising barriers to effective communication such as altered perception, hearing loss, pain and fear and making allowances for these.

3. To continually improve the reputation of The Market Surgery for its nursing services, working effectively and efficiently with clinicians, other staff, suppliers and community colleagues.

4. To alert the Nurse Manager to any potential problems and to consider/suggest corrective action as and when required.

5. To read and follow all standard operating procedures, including CQC protocols, at all times maintaining the highest levels of service delivery to patients, doctors, staff and external providers.

6. To read and follow the approved Information Governance policy, at all times maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality regarding patient, colleague and commercial information and to report any breach or suspected breach immediately.

7. At all times, to maintain the highest standards of behaviour, to comply with and follow practice policies, protocols and procedures e.g. health & safety, equality & diversity and to report any breach or suspected breach immediately.

8. To undertake regular training and personal development and to attend staff meetings. To achieve Level 2 Safeguarding children training within 6 weeks of being in post.

9. To undertake any other activities that may from time to time be reasonably requested by the Nurse Manager, the Practice Manager or the Partners.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 17 per week

Salary: From £10.42 per hour
