About the role
SLD Pumps & Power (a Carrier company) is one of the UK's leading suppliers of pumps and generator rental equipment. We are currently recruiting for a Workshop Engineer for our depot in Peterborough. The overall objective is to work within the depot team to maintain the plant equipment to a high standard within the Depot which in turn will improve revenue.
Requirements
We are looking for people who have experience in repairing and maintenance of plant equipment / pumps / generators / diesel engines. If this is you, get in touch.
As a minimum you must have:
- Previous mechanical experience (experience in pumps is desired)
- Diesel Service Engineer Skills
- NVQ3 or suitable Apprenticeship
- Flexibility to work away from home as required
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good working knowledge of EHSQ
- Team Working Skills
- Time Management
Responsibilities:
As a Workshop Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- To assist in the servicing of plant equipment, specifically pumps, within the depot
- Carry out major repairs to equipment identified as too intensive for the Depot.
- Refurbish end of life equipment bringing it back to as new condition.
- To work closely with the Depot engineers and Manager to act quickly where problems arise within the depot and to establish an open system of communication to ensure the consistent treatment of problems.
- To adhere to all Health and Safety Procedures within the workshop environment;
Specifically
- To work on the repair and maintenance of pumps to a high standard
- Fabrication/welding
- To service, repair and overhaul equipment and associated components both within the depot, at customer premises and third party sites;
- To assess off-hired pumps and generators and judge the level of repair needed;
- To assist with the loading and unloading of pumps and generators onto the lorry for deliveries through the use of Hi-Ab Lorry Mounted Crane and Forklift Truck;
- To ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained to a high standard;
- To report any major problems within the equipment to the Foreman/Depot Supervisor;
- Ensure adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures.
- Be fully conversant and compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
- Complete quarterly ethics module as advised by Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO)
- Fully comply with all Quality, Environmental Health and Safety directives including but not limited to PPE, Accident Reporting, Cardinal Rules, Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE).
