Engineering Manager - Rugby Plant

Ardagh Metal Packaging

Role overview:
Provide strong leadership to achieve a safe compliant working environment for all employees, providing a quality engineering service with planned maintenance schedules to meet the manufacturing performance needs of the business unit. Ensuring equipment is maintained to the required standards to continually meet the Plant KPI’s.

Key responsibilities:
Health and Safety:
Implementing and developing Plant H&S policies and procedures to provide a safe working environment
Ensuring the Plant is compliant with all H&S and environmental legislative requirements
Ensuring the Plant maintains company house-keeping standards and 6S standards

Performance:
Ensuring site compliance with all regulatory and corporate environmental, health and safety standards
Providing clear leadership, direction and accountabilities for the Engineering team ensuring that they meet business requirements whilst maintaining quality standards
Promoting safety and environmental issues to raise awareness of company and legal compliance requirements across the site, providing direction on safety and environmental needs to comply with competency requirements
Providing direction, leadership, strategy and support to the Engineering Team to enable the plant to deliver quality products
Providing input to the site safety committee
Responsible for overseeing all the site’s major engineering projects
Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met, quality standards maintained and budgetary controls adhered to
Managing implementation of maintenance schedules and other maintenance tasks
Providing engineering resource for the site for new and existing plant and equipment
In conjunction with Plant Management and Senior Management, develop business strategy for the site engineering function, managing resources to meet Company goals
Experience of project planning and ability to liaise with other departments to ensure all requirements are met
Tracking and monitoring fixed and variable costs and continually improve the cost base of the plant on a sustainable basis
Identifying capital programs with the Plant which sustains the operations and provides compliance to legislative requirements
Direct plant operations for the manufacture of beverage products in accordance with process, product specifications and quality standards.
Establishing, maintaining, and developing an effective working relationship with all Plant customers through performance, contact and communication
Collaborative working with Senior Managers to ensure benchmarking exercises are in place with respect to plant machinery, systems and protocols
Implementing sustainable systems of work with tracking and monitoring to achieve plant KPIs and budgets

People relates:
Providing clear, strong leadership and direction for the engineering team to achieve the plant and business objectives and KPIs with clear accountabilities and responsibilities to deliver great results
Coaching, building and developing an Engineering team who are capable of creating sustainable performance improvement within a motivating and empowering environment
Acting as a role model for the company / plant values and behaviors
Establishing, maintaining and developing an employee culture of Teamwork, Trust and Excellence to collaboratively achieve the business and personal goals
Creating an environment of high performance, continuous learning, feedback and training within the Engineering and operational teams that provides employees with the skills, knowledge and capability to enhance their performance and realize their full potential

Requirements:
University degree or equivalent
Fluency in English - oral and written
MS Office, Drawing Packages, Integrated Safety, SAP
5 years’ plus experience within a manufacturing environment as an Engineering Manager
An understanding of high-speed manufacturing and support requirements is essential
Able to demonstrate working with budgets and control
Recognized engineering and continuous improvement qualifications, Lean, SMED, Greenbelt
Proven leadership experience
Experienced in managing and delivering large scale change
