- 2+ years of technical support experience
- 3+ years experience in test rack design and fabrication, electrical enclosure fabrication and wiring of cable harnesses or industrial control panels.
- 2+ years experience with enclosure wiring, assembly of electronic components and following schematics.
- 2+ years experience with assembly of mechanical components and mechatronic systems.
- 2+ years experience in testing of prototype hardware for aerospace, consumer, automotive, or automation equipment.
- 2+ years experience with common electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, etc.)
- 2+ years experience sourcing lab supplies and components
- Hands on experience with debugging wiring and electrical issues using test equipment.
We are looking for an experienced Lab Engineer with experience in technology development environments and manufacturing of electronics and mechatronic systems to help us develop the next generation of automated satellite test systems.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage development lab spaces, order/stock consumables, track assets, and monitor/update/close Jira tickets.
- Support electrical enclosure, test rack, test fixture and wire harness design.
- Assemble test racks, electrical cabinets and wire harnesses.
- Support ordering and manufacturing of test fixtures.
- Assemble mechanical components of automation equipment.
- Write work instructions and provide recommendations for improved work definition.
- Participate in design reviews of pre-release test rack and automation hardware.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
As a Project Kuiper Lab Engineer you will participate in the development and own assembly and bring-up of test racks, electrical enclosures and mechatronics equipment. You will work with engineering and maintenance teams to develop and maintain preventive maintenance plans and critical spare parts lists for engineering equipment. You will own layout, maintenance and organization of lab spaces, ordering/stocking consumables and tracking of team assets.
About the team
The Automated Vehicle Testing Team is responsible for core infrastructure and tools that will serve as the backbone for automated satellite testing operations to enable rapid scaling of manufacturing processes.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Redmond, WA, USA
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or comparable industry experience
- Experience scripting in modern programming languages
- Proven track record of delivering results on time.
- Experience working in aerospace, automotive or electronics manufacturing.
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to review and develop written instructions; document work performed, and follow up with engineers and management as required.
- Familiar with ESD safe protocols when handling sensitive electronic hardware.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
