Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team this role as a Welcome & Service Assistant, plays a core part in providing fantastic customer service.

This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.


What it's like to work here:Leonard and Virginia Woolf's 17th-century country retreat. Nestled in the heart of rural Sussex, Monk’s House is a tranquil 17th-century weatherboarded cottage inhabited by Leonard and the novelist Virginia Woolf from 1919 until Leonards death in 1969. Visitors get to know Leonard and Virginia Woolf and the wider Bloomsbury Group by visiting Monk's House. Full of their favourite things, the house appears as if they just stepped out for a walk.

What you'll be doing:Monk’s House is small and relies on its team members to be flexible, confident and proactive. This role would suit a multi tasker as it comprises three main elements of promoting the National Trust, general admissions and visitor queries as well as being solely responsible for our small second hand bookshop. The property is small but can get busy at peak times.

You'll be the first point of contact for visitors to Monk’s House and must feel confident dealing with large numbers of visitors. You'll also need to learn the history of the property as well as basic information about the National Trust and quickly be able to answer visitor queries.
