Role Purpose:
Our client, is on the lookout for an experienced Chief Engineer to join our actuation systems team based in Wolverhampton. The Chief Engineer is creative, autonomous and takes responsibility for the architecture of the product family, ensuring all program deliverables are compliant with requirements and that the appropriate technical reviews have been held. The Chief Engineer is the primary technical contact with customers and provides technical leadership to the Integrated Project Team, in collaboration with the Integrated Project Team Lead and other functional leads. The Chief Engineer is capable of coaching others in the application of Systems Engineering and contributing to the development of Systems Engineering standard work and best practice.
Your Responsibilities
- Technically leading the Integrated Project Team to deliver actuation systems in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Management of all system requirements during the proposal, system definition, design, and verification, manufacturing, and sustainment phases.
- Develops the necessary plans/schedules in collaboration with the Integrated Project Lead to meet key programmatic and customer milestones (hardware deliveries, qualification activities, customer lab/flight test A/C support activities).
- Supports ongoing Operations and Quality, Supply Chain - driving RCCA investigations, Cost-reduction initiatives, and Zero-defect plans.
- Maintaining a focus on Customer Satisfaction, On-time Delivery and Quality. Supports sustainment and service/repair contracts and operations, diminishing manufacturing sources, and obsolete product re-introduction initiatives.
- Close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and other functions.
- Responsible for the product safety assessments and act as the IPT representative at the Collins Product Safety Board.
- Championing quality at all stages of the development.
- Ensuring complete development of a project's requirement dataset from Stakeholder through to component in accordance with SAE ARP4754A
- Leading customer and supplier technical discussions and negotiations
- Leading internal multi-disciplinary teams through project milestones.
- Sharing expertise and insight with other Engineers by coaching, mentoring, and training others

- Compile and prepare technical presentation materials for system, unit and component design reviews.
- Knowledge of configuration management processes
- Technical requirements management applications (for example, IBM Rational DOORS).
- Experience of aerospace systems development (electrical, electromagnetic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems).
