Role Overview
Applications are invited for the seasonal position of Engine Room Watch Rating / Motorman, to sail within the Western Isles Fleet. You will be responsible for assisting the Watch-Keeping Engineer in maintaining an engine room watch, maintaining a port watch when the vessel is in port, bringing any operational problems to the attention of the Duty Engineer and maintaining the engine room and auxiliary machinery spaces in a clean condition.
Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
- Assist with ensuring main and auxiliary machinery maintenance is kept up to date in accordance with the maintenance system
- Ensuring that waste and any oil sludge accumulation is disposed of in the correct manner
- Reporting of all technical problems or breakdowns affecting the operation of the vessel
- Assist with ensuring Engine Room and machinery spaces are safe working areas
- Maintaining the machinery space bilges in a clean condition
- Assisting in the preparation of work lists for overhaul periods
- Helping to ensure that machinery spaces and voids are maintained in a clean, tidy and well painted condition
- Any other duties reasonably required by Engineer Officer or the Chief Engineer
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
- In possession of the following STCW2010 certification
o Personal Survival Techniques
o Elementary First Aid
o PSSR
o Security Awareness
o Crowd Management
o Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats
- Engine-room Watch Rating Certificate
- Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate (no limitations)
- Designated Security Duties
- Fast Rescue Boats
- Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety & Hull Integrity
Desirable Criteria
- MES Certificate
