The Modern Classrooms Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers educators to build classrooms that respond to every student’s needs. Founded by two award-winning teachers, we lead a movement of educators in implementing a self-paced, mastery-based instructional model that leverages technology to foster human connection, authentic learning, and social-emotional growth.
To date, we have reached over 45,000 teachers through our free online course and 6,000+ teachers through our Virtual Mentorship Program from over 100 school, district, and state partners. We are an ambitious, idealistic team led by former classroom teachers, and we are passionate about what we do. There is high demand for our mentor-driven, professional development that helps teachers modernize their classrooms. The Business Development team helps school and district leaders to partner with the Modern Classrooms Project to meet teacher demand.
Job Description:
The Partnership Engagement Manager will support the Director of Partner Engagement increasing the number of partnerships with K-12 school districts. In this role, you will work across a broad range of activities related to the sales cycle from prospecting and lead qualification to proposal and contract signing. This will include but is not limited to:
- Lead Generation: Research district and state strategic priorities, funding streams, networks, and conferences. Plan for and represent MCP at conferences and convening circuits; serve as lead coordinator for specific conferences. Speak on behalf of the Modern Classrooms Project at conferences, webinars and events to source new partners.
- Lead Management: Conduct proactive outreach to potential leads. Respond to inquiries from prospects; convert social, web, and webinar engagement into leads. Relentlessly pursue the opportunity to share about the Modern Classroom approach with prospective partners.
- Pipeline Management: Prioritize relationships and conversations with leads and contacts in qualified districts. Maintain contacts, accounts, and opportunities in Salesforce. Support the Director of Partner Engagement and other key stakeholders (CEO, Partnership Team, Ambassadors) as they collaboratively manage relationships with district and state leaders.
- Partner Engagement: Form new partnerships with districts, enabling Modern Classrooms Project to support the target number of educators in the mentorship program. Forge new fee-for-service contractual partners. Leverage networks and criteria-based opportunities to offer fully-funded scholarship seats to MCP’s mentorship program. Help new partners understand the value of fully-funded seats Formalize new partnerships, researching all necessary purchasing requirements, fulfilling any vendor obligations, and transitioning new partners to MCP’s Partnerships Team.
- Pipeline Analysis and Reporting: Use Salesforce to manage your pipeline, help analyze trends across new business, renewal, and conversion, and identify gaps to improve opportunities. Keep accurate and up-to-date records with clear contact and account ownership.
- Continuous Improvement: Inform and improve MCP’s use of tools and technology. Contribute to process improvement to make our shared work more efficient and effective.
This dynamic role requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and agility. This role will provide the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of business development activities while collaborating across multiple teams and external stakeholders. Preferred skills, but not mandatory:
- Experience with new business development
- Experience with Salesforce or a similar customer relationship management system
- Familiarity with business development in the K-12 education sector
- Comfortable creating presentations and proposals

- Compensation: The salary range for this position is $70,000-80,000. Exact salary is negotiable/commensurate with experience
