The Engineering function at the GSK Ware Manufacturing and Supply site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved.

The Ware site is now looking for a new Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The role is a key part of the Utilities and Facilities team at the Ware manufacturing site.

The role is accountable for providing technical knowledge and assurance, and direction to a team of electrical technical resources (as Electrical Subject Matter Expert), ensuring that activities are performed in a fully compliant manner and are aligned to the site strategy and business needs. As the technical authority you will ensure the electrical assets and site infrastructure complies with all relevant GSK and National Standards. This extends to the provision of support to the Capital Project Team (to develop and deliver the Facility Investment Plan and Electrical elements of capital projects across the campus) and to deputise for the Lead Electrical Engineer & Energy Manager (Senior Authorised Person) as required.

Key Responsibilities (include);

  • Maintaining and operating a safe and reliable High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution system for site (includes building control systems, fire detection system and intruder protection system).

  • Responsible for developing technical specifications and standards for Capital projects and owning and delivering projects across site.

  • Responsible for compliance to and application of relevant legislation, Global Engineering Standards and Engineering Alerts. Being involved with the central Centre of Excellence group, senior above site engineering groups, other sites and directors.

  • Discharging Authorised Person responsibilities to ensure safety standards across the HV and LV network. Including management of Electrical processes and their application that supports ongoing manufacturing and audit readiness.

  • Ownership of the campus electrical maturity model including the briefing of senior site duty holders and above site stakeholders.

  • Lead and provide resource for continuous improvement activities across site. Be able to quickly diagnose and resolve issues or problems and provide expertise / specialised knowledge or appropriate resource from within team.

About You:

This role would suit a motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a complex manufacturing environment. Knowledge/Experience in Electrical Engineering is a pre-requisite for the role; you will be a qualified electrical engineer with strong people skills. You will have a proven ability to drive performance (with a complete focus on providing solutions) and you will be a good team player in a matrix organisation.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications and / or experience (eg; Electrical Engineering Degree and experience in Electrical Engineering position).

  • Knowledge / experience of Electrical Distribution Systems.
