Are you on board?
Supporting our evidence-based approach to risk management, this is a key role in the risk and assurance team and is responsible for the collation, input, and maintenance of data on accidents, incidents, and close calls.
You will be assisting with the collation of accident reports and investigations, ensuring the team can prepare statistical analysis on our safety and environmental performance. You will need to become a subject matter expert in our business safety performance, and you will be supporting managers and colleagues to know they are doing the right things. You'll be working to provide information on investigation quality across all areas of the business to help us understand if we are getting to the root causes and making a difference.
So, what would you be doing?
- Record and report events in accordance with company, Railway Group and Statutory requirements. Provide statistical information to assist in the analysis of the data collated.
- Liaise with Network Rail and other Railway Group Companies on the accurate supply of safety related information via the industry database (SMIS) ensuring compliance with Railway Group Standards.
- Collate all accident and incident reports and input into SMIS database.
- Collate environmental and crime related data.
- Collate Close Calls and coordinate close out and feedback.
- Assist the Data and Risk Analysis Manager with the provision of accident, incident and statistical information for reports and investigation tracking logs.
- Attend meetings and provide information to support line manager's briefings/forums relating to accidents/incidents, and
- Evaluate quality of accident and incident investigations to support an improvement.
Of course, with this being quite specialist role, there are a few ‘must haves'…
What do we need you to have?
- Working knowledge of the RIDDOR Regulations;
- SMIS input and SMIS administration training;
- Ability to be flexible and deal with multiple targets;
- Excellent computer skills;
- Detail conscious;
- Excellent communicator and networker;
- Knowledge of how the business operates;
- Basic working knowledge of statistical analysis;
- Understanding of Operational rules/instructions.
