Job Description:
We have an opportunity for an individual to join a small team within the Test Engineering & Electronics department. The chosen candidate will work on a variety of projects to support and maintain both multiple engineering programmes and our test facilities, to generate drawings, schematics and engineering documentation. You will be working closely with design engineers and electrical workshop staff to produce all the documentation required for prototype and series production harnesses, sensor and actuator assemblies.
This role will require you to be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing situations and requirements.
The Role:
- Generate wiring schematics and physical loom drawings using AutoCAD and or Unigraphics in conjunction with project engineers.
- Generate Excel based pin-out tables.
- Generate schematics and drawings of electrical assemblies and piece parts using AutoCAD and/or Unigraphics.
- Generate assembly instructions and test procedures in conjunction with project engineers.
- Generate dyno/rig schematics (electrical & mechanical) documentation to support test engineering.
- Generate, update and maintain BOMs for electrical products & dyno support.
- Generate, update and maintain process and assembly procedural documentation for Electronics products.
- Manufacture, test, inspection and servicing of production and prototype wiring looms, sensors and actuators across all projects and test installations as required.
- Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
- Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Unigraphics.
- PC Literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Qualified to HNC/HND level in a relevant engineering subject.
- The ability to balance working on multiple projects simultaneously and to work equally well unsupervised or as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills
- A desire to learn new disciplines and expand their skill set.
- Conversant with wiring harness assembly to military or motorsport specifications, familiar with Auto-Sport, Military and automotive connectors and Raychem 25 products.
- Previous experience of motorsport harness design or having the relevant drafting skills plus a background in engine sensor and harness manufacture, test and repair is highly desirable.
