We have a full time vacancy for a driver’s mate (driver) / loading operative within our busy transport division. This is an all-rounder position where every day will be different. You may be accompanying the HGV driver or may be van driving yourself (alone or with a 2nd person).
Most days will involve early starts (from 4 am), potential late finishes . A full driver’s licence and reliable transport is essential for this role.
You will need to be flexible with your hours and be comfortable working in a role that requires heavy manual handling.
What you will do:
- Accompanying the HGV driver delivering and unloading kitchens into customers’ homes or building sites generally in the northwest area but this may vary due to geographical demand and some long distance (early starts and very occassional nights away may be required).
- Supporting the driver in checking the delivery against the relevant paperwork & goods supplied and report all customer concerns and inconsistencies to sales.
- Taking responsibility for home deliveries when working with agency drivers.
- Making your own deliveries (as above) in the company van (car licence required) either alone or accompanied.
- Working in the loading dock loading wagons, loading kitchen units onto the conveyor, wrapping pallets and / or stacking kitchen units
To be considered for the position, you will need:
· A full driver’s licence and reliable transport (must be able to get to work for 4am starts, this would not suit public transport)
· flexible with your hours and duties to suit the needs of the business
· In between deliveries there is always lots to do on the loading dock, this is an integral part of the role
· Good literacy and numeracy skills
· You will be delivering to customers’ homes and therefore you must have a smart appearance, pleasant manner, be helpful and courteous and above all a good communicator. You must be a good representative of the Company.
· You will be reliable able to commit to early starts.
