Highway Maintenance Winter Gritter Driver
Location - Huntingdon
Varied hours per week
Milestone Infrastructure, part of M Group Services, are looking for part time HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers, with CPC, to work on the Cambridgeshire Highways Maintenance contract as Winter Maintenance drivers. The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover the Winter Maintenance season from November 2023 until April 2024. We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero-hour contract basis.

Your duties & responsibilities will be:
- To drive a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle for the duration of the winter maintenance season, being allocated to a rota within the Cambridgeshire area.
- To be on standby alternate weeks i.e. one week on standby followed by one week off throughout the winter maintenance season.
- To undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocated route and all the associated activities required to deliver the Winter Service.
We are looking for:
- A full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential.
- A valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. If, however, training is required, training for the City and Guilds qualification will be arranged for September/October 2023 and the above-mentioned temporary contract will be extended to cover this
- The ability to get to Cambridgeshire Highways Depot, Stirling Way , Witchford Cambridgeshire CB6 3NR within 1 hours’ notice
Shifts and Pay Rates:
The Winter Maintenance Season rota will commence on the 1st November 2023 and will finish on the 14th April 2024. Drivers must commit to being on standby alternate weeks for the duration of the service. A week starts at 07.30 am on the Friday and finishes at 07.30am the following Friday. When you are on Standby, you can be called out at anytime to undertake a grit run.
Callouts for WINTER SERVICE will be paid as follows: £87/run weekdays Mon- Sat, £111/run Sundays, £136/run Bank Holidays and £159/run on Christmas Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday.
Standby will be at £132/ week. £186/week for the weeks covering Christmas, New Year and Easter
