About Us...

London Hire Community Services provide accessible home-to-school transport services where our service users are unable to access public transport. All our services are run under a full passenger vehicle operator’s license regulation.

We have built our service around principals and process that are recognised as industry standards. We take the safety of our passengers as well as our staff very seriously and have also put in place OHSAS 18001 that governs the way we manage Health and Safety in the workplace.

The Role...

The role of the Driver is to provide London Hire Community Services with professional driving services that support our work or contracts and equally important our passengers. The nature of our work will require the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of disability issues and deliver the service with a patient and a level-headed attitude.

  • Starting pay rate of £11.00ph.
  • Term-time only, with a full statutory annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks (inclusive of 5.6 weeks) paid in addition to the working weeks.
  • There is no requirement to work during school holidays, although overtime will be available that will be paid in addition to your contractual salary.
  • Salaries are pro-rata - you will receive payment every month of the year (even in non-working periods!)
  • Automatic enrolment in our pension scheme after three months service.

Duties & Responsibilities...

  • Drive in a manner that ensures the safety and comfort of passengers, whilst considering other road users when driving, parking and maneuvering.
  • Operate passenger lift or other equipment and assist passengers boarding and alighting the vehicle (appropriate training will be provided.)
  • Ensure passengers travelling in wheelchairs are secured safely with a full lap and diagonal seat belt.
  • Ensure any wheelchairs are correctly located and secured using suitable equipment.
  • Support Passenger Assistants (also aboard the vehicle during transport service) with their duties when required.
  • Completion of mandatory vehicle checks before each use.
  • Report any vehicle defects as and when required.

About You...

  • You must have a clean valid driving license.
  • Be willing to undertake/have a Private Hire License with Wiltshire County Council.
  • You must have a valid (or be willing to undertake) enhanced DBS check.
  • You should demonstrate a sound understanding of disabilities.
  • Deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25 per week

Salary: From £11.00 per hour
