This is a key role for the business and involves overall responsibility for the performance of contracts. Reporting directly to the CEO the postholder will manage a significant team comprising various heads of department including the Head of SHEQ/ Head of Planning/ Head of Projects and Head of Install and Commissioning. They will have overall ownership of delivering projects safely, on time, within budget and to the client’s specification.

About The Role

  • Contributing as a member of the Senior Management Team to the development, communication and implementation of the Company’s operational objectives in line with the Company’s strategy.
  • Undertake responsibility for the delivery of projects under her/his control. Serve as the main point of contact throughout the project.
  • Establish priorities on and between projects and manage the allocation and/or transfer of staff and resources across projects accordingly.
  • Co-ordinate and monitor the production of meaningful commercial indicators of project performance and provide regular commentary and evaluation to the CEO and Board.
  • Undertake responsibility for all safety, health, environment and quality matters ensuring adherence to statutory and legal requirements and Company procedures.
  • Lead, review and challenge project budgets and forecast to ensure a consistent and deliverable approach is adopted.
  • Provide the Technical Pre-Sales team where necessary, with support on tenders regarding programme, technical matters and local supply chain, as well as post tender and pre-award support.
  • Proactively develop good working relationships with external clients to help secure repeat business and work closely with the Business Development team to identify work winning opportunities.
  • Review and assist in negotiating contracts with suppliers & subcontractors. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and manage any disputes or claims that may arise.
  • Demonstrate clear and visible leadership, provide direction, motivation and coaching to others and ensure effective collaboration among team members.
  • Actively drive and promote excellence, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practice in materials processing solutions.
  • Identify areas for process improvement innovation and cost savings.
  • With extensive project and program management principals, methods and techniques you will, define success criteria and disseminate these to all relevant parties throughout the various contracts lifecycles.
  • You are a proven leader with demonstrable multi- million pound project experience where you have overseen multiple projects simultaneously and coached, mentored, motivated and managed the project and program team.
  • An excellent communicator you can influence and facilitate change and enhance performance within a cross functional environment.

Required Criteria

  • 3rd level (or above) qualification in a relevant Construction / Engineering discipline OR demonstration of significant comparable experience
  • Proven experience of leading a large team on multiple multi million pound projects
  • Fully conversant with all relevant Health & Safety regulations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance principles, methods, design, testing and implementation
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets, value engineering and optimizing cost reduction
  • 5 years' experience of leading in a construction/production or large programme management environment

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in a multi site construction /manufacturing environment
  • Experience within a similar industry
  • Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen experience
  • 2 years Design experience (SW & Practical)
