The Digital Development Manager is a key role in the Alstom UK & Ireland D&IS business providing leadership in the development of Alstom’s Digital offering and shaping the long-term future of the business.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The role is a key leadership position tasked with driving the UK D&IS digital strategy. Working with the Senior Leadership Team, key functions and Alstom platforms the Digital Development manager shall:


  • Create the UK D&IS Digital Vision
  • Develop & maintain the Digital Strategy
  • Position Alstom as the UK leader in Digital
  • Ensure product roadmap alignment
  • Drive growth through Digital

The role reports to the Director of Business Development & Tendering. The Digital Development Manager will work closely with the Managing Director, Regional Directors, Technical and Field Operations Director, Global Operations and Planning Director and the wider D&IS leadership teams. To develop and implement the Digital strategy.


RESPONSIBILITIES


The Digital Development Manager is responsible for the following:


  • Creating the D&IS digital vision and strategy to create a world leading Alstom center of excellence for digital solutions in the UK
  • Developing the Alstom digital value proposition(s).
  • Building the business case and securing investment in facilities, people and technology to establish the UK as a world leader in digital engineering.
  • Creating compelling content enabling effective engagement with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management across: Government(s), NR, TfL, Sub national regional transport bodies, other customers and industry bodies
  • D&IS digital communications plan developed with the Director of Communications to support the digital strategy.
  • Representing Alstom on related industry bodies such as RIASIG and speaking at industry events and conferences
  • Being the point of contact between Alstom D&IS and industry for the Rail Sector Deal
  • Leading engagement with customers for D&IS digital solution related activities including the T190+ programme.
  • Developing with the Engineering and Operational Resource Leadership a supporting skills and competence development programme covering: off-shoring and on-shoring strategies and knowledge transfer from regional centres to UK.
  • With HR, Alstom’s Head of Talent and Graduate & Apprenticeship teams and the functions lead the development of a digital solutions graduate apprenticeships strategy
  • Developing long term strategic relationships and partnerships with higher education institutes to support Alstom Digital strategy.
  • Work with Delivery Engineering, Operational Resource Leadership and Supply chain to ensure strategic ‘make or buy’ decisions and developing strategic partnerships with key suppliers and SMEs.
  • Being a key contributor to development of the Alstom Marketing and Commercial Carousels
  • Developing and maintaining (within Wall-C) a comprehensive and sustainable pipeline of Digital related opportunities
  • Developing comprehensive opportunity capture plans and winning strategies for Digital opportunities
  • Being a key contributor in the development of BD&T budgeting and forecasting.
  • Acting as tender leader on Digital related opportunities undertaking all governance in accordance with Alstom process and driving the adoption of BD&T Work Winning initiatives
  • Developing a network of contacts across Alstom that enables the leveraging of Alstom global capability to create a compelling Digital proposition.
  • Being a key contributor to the Alstom Platforms development plans ensuring all UK market needs identified and addressed within technology roadmaps
  • Undertake frequent UK and occasional international travel to Alstom and Customer sites.
  • Comply with and undertake all relevant Environment, Health & Safety measures and activities

Postholder requirements


Educational Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Business related discipline from an accredited university or college

Essential Knowledge / Experience


  • In Cab signalling, TMS and Asset Management
  • Digital engineering including: BIM, Big Data, IoT, Asset Management and Data Analytics
  • Solution selling and business development
  • Innovation, Product development and NPI
  • Proven track record in developing differentiated value propositions
  • Excellent numerical and oral / written communication skills
  • Proficient user of Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Comfortable delivering presentations to business leaders & customers
  • Knowledge of CRM software packages i.e. salesforce.com (wall-C)
  • Working knowledge & understanding of commercial contracts used in signaling, systems & infrastructure projects
