The Role

Do you have a passion for sustainable development and social change? Are you an experienced digital communications strategist? Shell Foundation is looking for a Digital Communications Manager to plan and execute digital content and systems that will help us achieve our strategic goals.

What’s the role?

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Create and publish compelling editorial and visual content across our digital communications channels, including the website, email, and social media.
  • Monitor and update digital outlets to keep them fresh and engage with our target audiences.
  • Commission multimedia content, including videos and graphics, to present our work and learnings to key audience groups.
  • Use content management systems and complementary analytics tools to schedule and track engagement with digital communications channels, sharing data with colleagues to help develop effective partnerships with potential and existing investors.
  • Develop colleagues' understanding and use of digital communications channels and analytics to help them build content and achieve their goals.
  • Assess reputational risk when creating and publishing content and monitor reactions to minimize potential threats and take prompt action if needed.

What we need from you?

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

  • A wide understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and trends of different digital media platforms.
  • Experience in digital design and development.
  • Ability to design and execute communications activities that contribute to strategic goals.
  • Able to use user analytics to your advantage.
  • Excellent copy-editing and proofreading skills to a professional standard.
  • An interest in sustainable development and social change.

Competencies essential for the role:

  • Communication planning and project management.
  • Entrepreneurial creativity with strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Understanding of the international development finance market and audiences, and able to generate insights and content that are appropriate for both.

Others:

  • Given the nature of work for this role, we would be needing someone with rights to work in the UK.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas to Foundation projects.
  • Clear background check for safeguarding purposes.
