DevOps Engineer
As a DevOps engineer you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Web & App Tribe. You’ll be working with developers to deploy and manage code changes, and with operations staff to ensure that systems are up and running smoothly. To be successful in this role, as the DevOps engineer you must have a deep understanding of both development and operations processes, as well as a strong technical background.
The DevOps Engineer’s role requires technical skills in the development cycle and operations skills for maintenance and support.
- Supporting software engineers in your agile squad and working with wider stakeholders in delivering DevOps journeys to BT and EE’s customers
- Driving the technical standards, culture and best practice for the engineers in the squad and the wider business
- Working with the wider engineering community within and outside of BT to contribute to our front-end frameworks and tooling
- Hands on development of CI/CD pipelines for the FE code and implement deployment strategies for container and serverless environments
- Build scalable, highly available solution in a cost-optimized manner
- Design and build automated solutions for complex tasks and large-scale environments
- Create automated recovery processes
- Configure the collection, aggregation and storage of logs and metrics
- Audit , monitor and analyze logs and metrics to detect issues
- Automate monitoring and event management of complex environments
- Apply automation for security controls and data protection
- Implement security monitoring
- Ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and conform to our architectural principles
- Working with the Product Owners, Architecture and test from across the group on solution architecture for your squads deliveries
- Maintain and grow relationships with strategic external partners and open source projects to influence their roadmaps and continue taking best advantage of their evolving capabilities
- Defining the monitoring strategy and inlife support for your team’s journeys including being part of an on-call rota
- Representing BT within the wider tech community helping communicate your own and the departments achievements
