Position Overview:
As one of Canada’s largest commercial kitchen equipment suppliers and custom stainless steel manufacturers, Trimen Food Service Equipment is looking for a CAD Designer. Based at our head office in North York, this position will report to the Director, Project Management & Design.
This position requires effective coordination of all activities within the design department. Responsibilities will include preparing commercial kitchen floor plans, elevations, details and custom stainless steel equipment shop drawings (tables, sinks, counters etc.).
Working with Project Managers, CAD Technicians, Designers and Engineers ensuring all timelines are met, and the needs of the production staff are fulfilled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using AutoCAD, create commercial kitchen layouts, elevations, details and custom stainless steel shop drawings for food service environments (restaurants, hotels, hospitals etc.)
- Ability to disseminate information and prepare drawings for client approval
- Partner with manufacturing department to ensure effective production of custom stainless steel kitchen equipment
- Maintain standard CAD drawings and templates
- Be active in constant improvement of systems, programs, and techniques to keep us a leader in the industry
- Take on all delegated tasks and duties to completion in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are paramount
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or commensurate work experience
- 3+ years experience in the design/fabrication environment using AutoCAD
- Knowledge of the foodservice industry including commercial kitchen space planning, kitchen equipment and related drawings (point of connection drawings, shop drawings, elevations etc.)
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet or exceed timelines
- Strong ability to work with all levels within the organization as well as with customers and vendors
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor is an asset
