This is fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and well-established fabricator of engineering-grade plastics and specialist vehicle converters who are based in Tamworth, who due to success, are looking to expand their design team with the appointment of a Design Engineer.
Our client is a leader in their field and has been delivering high-quality products to customers for over 35 years worldwide, with a particular focus on light commercial vehicle and fire engine bodies. What we need from you as a Design Engineer:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, working with fabrication design using plastics and sheet metal materials
- Ideally have good experience of using SOLIDWORKS or similar 3D design package
- Ideally have some automotive design experience - preferably HGV or LGV vehicles
- Some knowledge of CNC programming using ALPHACAM or SWOOD desirable
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Working on the design and build of specialist vehicles for both national and international clients. Taking the initial brief from the customer and working through the initial design all the way through to the approval stage. Once the approval is signed off it will be your responsibility to produce full production drawings including BOMs ready to go to the programming stage of the process for full production roll-out.
- Liaising with Sales/project team and clients to take project brief
- Designing concept models from brief, ready for customer sign off
- Carrying out full 3D design of concept to the point of releasing fabrication drawings ready for programming - this could be anything from a simple box design to full vehicle bodies
- Draughting full manufacturing drawings ready for release to the workshop teams
- Creating Bill of Materials, audit trails and releases of design/product changes
- Liaising with internal manufacturing team to resolve any production issues
Salary/Package: Up to £35,000 per annum (Dependant on experience). Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm - Fridays 8am to 3.15pm.
