The Operations Delivery manager, is the single node of governance and oversight of the site delivery programmes, supporting the Head of Site directly to discharge their accountabilities for maximising productivity of the sites. The role holder leads multi-disciplined teams across different functions, responsible for operational / programme delivery and continuous improvement within a facility or facilities, to ensure the safe and secure delivery against a defined plan.
Role Responsibility
Main Responsibilities for Operations Delivery Manager:
- Promote and ensure nuclear safety and security, as well as other safety including conventional, industrial, radiological and environmental, of a facility or facilities, by enforcing site standards, policies, processes and procedures to protect NNL and the wider community from any undue risks.
- Programme management – Ensure that programme elements defined for the area, are managed effectively in line with overall expectations and objectives. Approving & implementing methods of accelerating delivery in line with priorities and objectives.
- Leads all aspects of programme delivery within the facility / facilities inc. operations, maintenance, pre-operations and work integration and acts as primary interface for functional support to ensure delivery against programme plans within the bounds of the safety case.
- Ensure adherence to budget and drive cost reduction/value improvement, monitors operational effectiveness through analysis of performance metrics (safety, security, quality, production and cost metrics) to achieve greater operational effectiveness.
- Apply and implement site standards and translate them into local policies and procedures for the facility to ensure that employees are working within an agreed and safe framework that is compatible with regulatory requirements.
- Define, authorise and monitor the operational baseline against approved staffing levels.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the continuous improvement programme and provide governance and control to ensure delivery of increased performance against defined standards, company objectives and key performance indicators.
- Lead and coach the local management team within the facility, setting objectives, reviewing performance and training requirements and participating in selection / promotion decisions to ensure that staff are appropriately deployed and have the necessary skills/understanding to deliver the facility objectives.
- Provide a governance and control framework, including development of and adherence to assurance programmes and implementation of corrective actions support safe programme delivery.
- Support the development of business strategy for the designated area and support long term planning and scheduling.
- Implement and maintain effective communication to the Head of Site Operations and other internal or external stakeholders to engage stakeholders and support the delivery of strategic objectives.
- Implement and maintain effective communications to the operations management team to engage their senior team and to act as an escalation point for major challenges of the hands on operations of the plant.
- Works with Heads of Capability, reviewing performance of site staff, programmes of work and priorities for facility in line with NNL business plans, NNL risk management priorities and NNL internal plans for capex and S&T.
- Intervenes on issues and ensures the highest of standards are maintained for the site and its people.
- Improvement of both customer and facility recoveries through continuous improvement, and drive for efficient ways of working.
- Strong working relationship with EHSSQ teams, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
- Collaborates with assurance teams to identify areas of improvement or further reduction in risks.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria for Operations Delivery Manager:
- University degree or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience of leading in a operations, project and programme focussed environment, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility in the business.
- Ability to lead, manage and develop a large and diverse project or programme team within an operational context.
- Experience of leading strategic negotiations with stakeholders.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills with experience of developing formal communications and building relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Operations Delivery Manager:
- Chartered member or Fellow of relevant institute or equivalent level of experience.
- Qualified to MSP Foundation.
