Why this job matters
This job is required to manage data using a database management system (DBMS) and database administration to assure the proper usage and deployments of the BT Group and Technology data and databases. The Third line DBA team support all Oracle Databases and associated components that form the teams deigned supported estate. Also, ensure database integrity is maintained and database access is secured.
What you’ll be doing
- Diagnose and resolve incidents, service requests, and deploy changes.
- Perform root cause analysis, with wider team / development / business.
- Stakeholder management for major incidents, provide summary of technical updates to Incident Management and Senior Management Team.
- Identify automation and improvement opportunities e.g. new tool deployment, scripting/coding.
- Operational owner of standard changes, procedures.
- Ensure operational procedures are maintained and followed as appropriate.
- Join on-call rota (retainer + extra for any callups).
What you'll bring
Mandatory -
- Oracle DBA Administrator & troubleshooting.
- Oracle DBA RAC
- Golden Gate replication
- Oracle replication & backup and recovery.
- MySQL administration & troubleshooting.
- MySQL replication & backup and recovery.
- Linux (command line)
- Jira / github & CI/CD
- Communications skills, always adjusting to the audience.
- Linux scripting (Bash, Perl, Python etc)
Nice to have-
- Knowledge of Oracle databases
- Incident, Change, and Problem Management
- Understanding of storage and networks principles
