Job description

Checkit uniquely combines smart sensors and workflow software to provide the analytics and insights that complex organisations need to deliver a safer, more efficient and streamlined service to their customers. Our clients are spread across the healthcare, biopharma, assisted living, food service and facilities management sectors.

In addition you’ll query multiple systems such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL and the AWS tech stack to develop algorithms that support large data analysis and produce predictive models. This is a good opportunity for a Data Scientist who is looking for a chance to build up the structures and capabilities of a scaling company, while also getting heavily into the analytics, helping customers to understand what their data means and how it can be used to support operational efficiency. As a Data Scientist with previous experience of this kind of work, you’ll also be used to dealing with internal teams to roll out data models at speed and enhance how we collect and manage our data.

What you'll be doing

  • Working collaboratively with the wider technology team and wider business to design and deploy accepted data models at speed.
  • Evaluating and developing insights into large and diverse data sets from sensors, workflow management platform and alert data.
  • Providing technical advice on potential approaches within sprint planning sessions.
  • Working with domain experts across teams to enhance our use of available data.
  • Supporting Checkit in developing a data led culture and demonstrating the value of data.
  • Using a wide range of data analytics techniques to help solve business problems, mainly looking at customers and solving their pain points.
  • Working closely with Engineers, Sales, and Product Managers to ensure the right data to produce relevant business insights is collected.

What we're looking for

  • No formal academic, postgraduate or professional qualifications are required for this role, however any qualification in a relevant subject such as mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering would be advantageous.
  • Strong previous experience as a Data Scientist.
  • Proven knowledge of programming skills and database knowledge.
  • Expertise in Data visualisation/validation and machine learning, including good knowledge of data visualisation software, particularly PowerBI.
  • Database experience, ideally AWS tech stack, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with integrating various other public/proprietary datasets is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience of predictive modelling algorithms such as regressions, time series, clustering and decision trees.
  • Experience in Product analytics, including understanding of how to track the performance of new features, and what metrics should be applied.
  • Ability to analyse data to drive actions.
  • Familiarity dealing with trade-offs between model performance and business needs.
