We are looking for a friendly, engaging, and enthusiastic person to join the Faculty of Science team. The Faculty of Science comprises of seven Schools: Biosciences, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematical Sciences, Pharmacy, Physics and Astronomy and Psychology. You will work closely with the Faculty leadership team to provide reports, data, analyses and management information to: inform decision making, develop strategy and action plans; support business cases; monitor progress against key performance indicators provide reports, data, analyses and management information.

The post is based in the School of Physics and Astronomy, meaning the role holder will primarily work on the University Park Campus.

As a Data and Business Analyst you will:

  • Work with colleagues to understand information requirements, evaluate needs and identify/develop effective methodologies.
  • Establish a schedule of reporting to relevant Faculty meetings and working groups to track progress against key performance indicators.
  • Extract, prepare and collate raw data from multiple sources (from within and outside the University) and analyse, interpret and edit data to produce customised reports / statistics.
  • Connect with colleagues with similar roles to share good practice and contribute to discussions around data capture and analysis.
  • Maintain a good understanding of relevant policy and legislation in relation to information governance, security, and compliance

And you will bring:

  • Recent, substantive experience in a relevant role.
  • Excellent skills in developing and managing complex data sets.
  • The ability to analyse, report on and present a variety of data in a format appropriate to the intended audience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of providing accurate and timely interpretation of complex data.

Excellent skills in data extraction and manipulation from a range of systems and the ability to use initiative to solve complex problems as well as good interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships quickly are essential. Experience of data analysis in a higher education setting would be beneficial but not essential.

Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
