Position Information


The Ottawa Hospital’s Human Resources team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Data Analyst with strong analytical skills and experience in developing reports and queries within Human Capital Management systems. The primary responsibilities for the role will include the following:

  • Write and develop reports in response to various ad hoc and legislated reporting requests, providing information that is accurate and presented in a format that is suitable for the respective audience.
  • Support Human Resources as the technical liaison and internal subject matter expert on HR data/information as well as the various HR systems that house HR information (HRIS, Excel, MS Access Databases, etc.). Where applicable, provide support with interpretation of data.
  • Develop and maintain complex MS Excel tools to support HR business requirements for calculations/conversions/etc.
  • Using strong analytical and communication skills, work with our clients in HR to ensure that any request for data meets the functional business requirements of the business.
  • Work with our technology team to troubleshoot system issues and test any subsequent solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity and reliability of our HR systems by developing, maintaining and monitoring audit reports.

Basic Requirements

  • Community college diploma or university degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Computer/Data Science or equivalent work experience with reporting and analysis;
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience working with data, developing reports, and querying databases using SQL based tools;
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex ideas in simple terms;
  • Adept at interpreting requirements, developing reports and presenting findings;
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases;
  • Hands on experience with MS Teams, SharePoint and Power BI;
  • Knowledge and experience using advanced MS Excel tools and techniques such as advanced formulas, Vlookups, Pivot Tables, etc.;
  • Able to perform effectively in a detail-oriented environment, requiring a high degree of personal organization;
  • The ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an HR/Payroll operational role;
  • Experience with PeopleSoft HCM;
  • Experience with MS Power Apps and MS Flow.
